Finally in Florence!

So technically I arrived in Florence 2 days ago but I just turned my computer on for the first time a few minutes ago!

My first plane ride was incredible! You couldn’t have smacked the smile off my face that’s how excited I was! haha I was so in awe of the clouds when we were finally in the air. I was lucky enough to take off from JFK in the afternoon and arrive in Barcelona for the sunrise. It was perfect timing. I even loved turbulence. Probably because I’m a nerd haha It felt like a roller coaster to me! My favorite part of the flight had to be landing in Florence and looking over the beautiful city I was about to be in. The Duomo stuck out like a sore thumb. It was so beautiful!

I can’t believe I’m in such an amazing city! I’m still in the honeymoon phase, and probably will be for awhile, but right now I can’t imagine ever being affected by culture shock. The difference in culture is incredible to me! Everyone is very friendly and you get to walk in the middle of the streets (In fact I have no idea what’s a street or an alley or a sidewalk because the taxis drive everywhere).

I am living in an adorable little apartment right in the middle of the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio. When my roommate and I first got here, we immediately unpacked and went out for a self tour of the city during which we unknowingly discovered the Lookout! We kind of knew where we were going after we had to trek up the third large hill, but when we started we had no idea that was where it led haha

I love all of my roommates and have already made a few friends in the program, which is great! Unfortunately, I don’t have many photos right now because I keep forgetting to put the sim card in my camera (there are just so many other things to do!) and my iPhone has been letting me down. BUT, I am going on a walking tour with my program tomorrow and I intend to be in full tourist mode 🙂

That’s all for now but I will have more updates (and pictures) coming! Thanks for reading!!

xxKim
